Do Fun Stuff!!!

I started to follow this blog when he was taking weekly photos of his wife throughout her pregnancy (how cute is that?!).

Their oldest son has Smith Magenis Syndrom. Have you heard of that? Neither had I. Click on the links within the widget above to read more about SMS, the charity, listen to and buy this fabulous kids album (though it's the type of album that is TOTALLY tolerable as an adult too - great tunes!). CSN Stores/KidKraft Primary Sling Bookshelf Review

It took me awhile to decide what I was going to get and I went back to the CSN website many times to browse. They have so many great items, it was getting hard to decide because I kept finding something else I wanted/needed!

At one point, though, I went to the site and at the bottom there is a section called "See What Customers Are Buying From Our Stores!" and it must feature 4 products that are top sellers, or on sale, or maybe even just recently purchased. When I saw the KidKraft Sling Bookshelf on there I decided that is what we (my kids) needed. The fact that it was on SALE was even better!

Pros:
*List price: $66.99 - Sale price: $39.95

*I placed my order on 8/19 and received it on 8/25 - 6 days is great if you ask me!

*Easy to assemble - all screws and wrench were included. The kids were very excited to get it put together.
*Sturdy - right now we have 36 books of various sizes and I think we could safely add a few more.

*Organization - before we had a basket for our books and they rarely made it back in the proper place. So far, and maybe just because it's still new, the books are going right back in the bookshelf.
*Variety - they come in other colors to match your needs (the one we got is Primary, there's also pastels. You can also have them personalized with embroidery.
Cons:
*I'm glad that CSN Stores had this on sale, there's NO way I'd spend $66.99 on this item.

*This isn't a huge con really, but I was a little worried when I ordered because it didn't say how many books it would hold.

I'm trying to organize a lot of different areas in the house so I may head back to CSN Stores and see if there are any other great deals in the storage and organization area. Tell me, what's your best/favorite organization tip?

Sunday, Sunday

We had a busy day on Sunday. It started (a little later than planned, but that's how we roll) with a trip to the desert for some shooting practice.

BB gun for Hunter:

Bow for Travis:

Muzzleloader for Bailey:

We followed up that fun with a BBQ at Travis' dad's house and then a trip out to Nampa to see some friends. We left there about 11pm, it was a long day and Calvin had only napped about 1/2 hour in the car between shooting and home, I'm surprised he lasted that long!

Upcoming Product Review

Yay! I was contacted by someone at CSN stores to do a product review!

CSN stores consists of 200+ online stores where you can find anything from dinnerware to kettlebells to flooring - quite the assortment, eh?

A couple of my favorites from dinnerware:

There are so many things to choose from (and I do get to choose what I review) that the task of picking something is a bit overwhelming. I do think I'll manage to find something though!

Does the cat get a new litter box?
Do the kids get a new play tent?
OR - does mama get a new pair of shoes?

Do you know what you would choose? Stay tuned to find out what I choose and read my review!

If I Had a Magic Wand

I would wave it over my love seat...
(yes, there is a love seat under there somewhere...I think)

And this would be folded and put away, where it belongs! Because it almost always looks like this. What would you do if you had a magic wand?

Mini Golf

It was a hot day, but I was going stir crazy - I was tired of just being at home - so we sent Calvin to Nana's and Hunter and I went to play miniature golf at Wahooz (I truly dislike that name...it was better when it was Boondocks). Hunter has always called the rock arch "that man's giant pants" so he was excited to get to walk right under it while golfing!

June, July and August Blocks

For June, Becky had us "frame" some of her old race shirts (she's a runner) in some of her favorite fabrics (none of which match). I did 2 blocks, but this is the only one I took a picture of and I love it's 'story.' The shirt is from a trip Becky and Jamie (her husband) took to McCall and she got the fabric because it reminded her of a pair of boxers that were a Valentine's Day gift very early in their relationship. She went and picked out a bunch of fabrics that she liked and then came home and paired them with the shirts.

In July, Emily had us make 2 blocks using 2 different sets of fabrics. I took pictures, but cannot find them so this is one she posted on our group page. I'm not sure if there is an actual name to this block pattern, but I had gotten it from one of the local quilt shops during a "shop hop" where each shop was selling fabric and instructions for a different block, all of which had a Christmas theme.

For August, Beth wanted us to make 2 giant blocks out of some really great fabrics. She is going to cut them all in fourths and assemble them all in different order as seen on Film in the Fridge.

May Blocks for Kelsey

These are the quilt blocks Kelsey had us make. She had 4 (I believe) different color groups so all of her baskets are different. She's adding handles on her own.

How cute that these were for the month of May - they remind me of little May Day baskets!

These were fun to make and I was impressed with the way my corners all lined up and everything on my first try (I usually have a hard time with things like that...but I think I'm starting to learn little tricks).

I just have to say (maybe again) how much I love this quilt group. It's so fun to be able to try different blocks with completely different fabrics each month. It's also nice having small projects to work on!
