Treasure Shop Hop Day #4

Day #4 found Beth, my 2 boys and I taking a little road trip north, to the mountains!  Our first stop of the morning was at Stitch n' Snip in Garden Valley, ID, an approximate hour and a half drive.  This was a small shop packed full of goodness!

Another hour and 45 minute drive to McCall, ID and we visited Granny's Attic and Huckleberry Patches.  At Huckleberry Patches, I found this beautiful Yuletide Magic panel that I absolutely love - I cannot wait to turn into something wonderful (hopefully).  I decided I'm a sucker for Christmas fabric, I really could have purchased a fat quarter bundle (or more) of the coordinating fabrics in this line.  I haven't noticed this fabric at any of my local quilt shops, but I haven't actually looked, I just happened upon it while in McCall.  I'm either going to have to search down here or find an excuse to go visit this shop again.

Thanks for joining me on our Shop Hop journey.  Next year I'm thinking we'll get crazy with it, maybe have more interested members from our quilt group go with us, do all shops in a weekend and stay in a motel somewhere overnight, dress up - crazy hats, huge sunglasses, sequins...I'm not sure.  I just think it would be fun to get as crazy as we want with a large group of people.  Though, don't get me wrong, I really did love the quality time with Sara and Beth on day 1 (and Beth on day #2 and #4) - we've been friends awhile, but it has been a long time since we've spent so much time together and it was fabulous!

I feel like I've really been blogging about quilting and knitting only lately and just wanted to get back to the "and the Boys" part of my blog because I'm not sure what you're here for, but it's fun to mix things up every now and then, right? So, here are a few pictures of the boys!

Google Reader Feature Randomness

I love this new to me feature on Google Reader - add a button to your bookmark bar that allows you to go from blog to blog viewing the new posts in your reader. I'm not good at explaining it so you can find out how to do it in this post at Cluck Cluck Sew (love this blog). This makes it so quick and easy to read the posts - loving it so far!!

On another, completely unrelated note, this young man lost tooth #2 today - haven't taken a picture yet...we're all a bit under the weather today. We were actually on the way home from a doctor visit when he said ever so calmly "hey mom, my tooth came out." He's now on a course of antibiotics for a low grade atypical pneumonia...hopefully that will be all he needs to get rid of the nasty cough he's had for over a month now.

My triceps hurt today, but it's a good hurt (can you say oxymoron?). I guess doing skull crushers with a 50lb kettlebell will do that to you. Just have to say that I love kettlebells and the variation of workouts that I get in my classes!

...are silly. They certainly make me laugh every day - love them for that!

Mini Golf

It was a hot day, but I was going stir crazy - I was tired of just being at home - so we sent Calvin to Nana's and Hunter and I went to play miniature golf at Wahooz (I truly dislike that name...it was better when it was Boondocks). Hunter has always called the rock arch "that man's giant pants" so he was excited to get to walk right under it while golfing!

Hunter's Party

Yesterday was Hunter's 4th Birthday (in case you didn't gather that from yesterday's post). We had Hunter's Birthday party last Saturday at the bowling alley - here are some pictures (it's hard to get good pictures of kids who move fast in a dim bowling alley):

I made the cake, and small bowling ball cookies! I've always had a desire to make fun cakes - this was my first one and I was pretty happy with how it turned out. Can't wait to make more!

Wordless Wednesday - 4 Years!

Happy Halloween

Today when I was wrestling Calvin into his "smedium" Robin shirt, it ripped down the seam so I'm going to have to make some adjustments to it before tomorrow - the boys are going to be Trick-or-Treating at Grandma Records' place!

Mixed Media Weekend

Travis went hunting last night after work so the boys and I are hanging out around the house. Actually, we kind of have to hang out around the house because Travis had to come back and get my Explorer because his pickup was having issues and he was worried it wouldn't have made it in all the way to, or out of, their hunting camp. I stayed up until 4 am last night working on various projects. It was nice having some alone time. While I really could have put that time to better use (ex. cleaning my neglected house), it was much more fun doing the things I did. Maybe I can clean tomorrow.

I baked Chocolate Scotcheroos for the first time maybe ever. I've had them several times before, but I can't recall a time when I have actually made them. I ♥ them a lot!

Next I dyed my hair because it had been FOREVER since I've done so.

It's not really a whole lot different.

I took a picture of Hunter and myself since it had been too long since our last one and I decided to make a change.

I finished stamping the message on the inside of all of my Christmas cards so they are ready to be signed, sealed and delivered - but not until it's a bit closer to Christmas.

I started and completed my section of 'Jack Frost' - one of the current blankets being worked on by West Coast Oddball Knitters (my section is the top dark part only).

Today, Hunter and I finished painting some wooden Halloween decorations we had gotten awhile back from the craft store.

I did some more glass etching, in fact I finished the projects I had in mind (and had materials for). I'm trying to think if there are any other gift ideas I could do for anyone on my list. I didn't use the one set of initials I had printed out to somewhat match the first set of glasses I had done...it just wasn't "doing it for me" anymore. I ended up with this instead:

I'm fairly certain the people I'm making these gifts for don't read my blog....if for some reason they do, guess they won't be surprised much on Christmas. Ha! Actually, most of them can be for many different people I know so if you have a 'J' or 'A' for either your first or last initial...it could be you, but maybe not - guess you'll find out in 2 months (can you believe Christmas is only 2 MONTHS away?!)

I was going to stay up awhile again tonight and work on getting my backing for my quilt completed but I'm tired after only sleeping 5 hours last night (though I'm perfectly capable of functioning on that amount) so I think I'm going to call it a night "early" - it's already 11 pm.
