If I Had a Magic Wand

I would wave it over my love seat...

(yes, there is a love seat under there somewhere...I think)

And this would be folded and put away, where it belongs! Because it almost always looks like this. What would you do if you had a magic wand?

Wordless Wednesday

Mini Golf

It was a hot day, but I was going stir crazy - I was tired of just being at home - so we sent Calvin to Nana's and Hunter and I went to play miniature golf at Wahooz (I truly dislike that name...it was better when it was Boondocks). Hunter has always called the rock arch "that man's giant pants" so he was excited to get to walk right under it while golfing!

June, July and August Blocks

For June, Becky had us "frame" some of her old race shirts (she's a runner) in some of her favorite fabrics (none of which match). I did 2 blocks, but this is the only one I took a picture of and I love it's 'story.' The shirt is from a trip Becky and Jamie (her husband) took to McCall and she got the fabric because it reminded her of a pair of boxers that were a Valentine's Day gift very early in their relationship. She went and picked out a bunch of fabrics that she liked and then came home and paired them with the shirts.

In July, Emily had us make 2 blocks using 2 different sets of fabrics. I took pictures, but cannot find them so this is one she posted on our group page. I'm not sure if there is an actual name to this block pattern, but I had gotten it from one of the local quilt shops during a "shop hop" where each shop was selling fabric and instructions for a different block, all of which had a Christmas theme.

For August, Beth wanted us to make 2 giant blocks out of some really great fabrics. She is going to cut them all in fourths and assemble them all in different order as seen on Film in the Fridge.

May Blocks for Kelsey

These are the quilt blocks Kelsey had us make. She had 4 (I believe) different color groups so all of her baskets are different. She's adding handles on her own.

How cute that these were for the month of May - they remind me of little May Day baskets!

These were fun to make and I was impressed with the way my corners all lined up and everything on my first try (I usually have a hard time with things like that...but I think I'm starting to learn little tricks).

I just have to say (maybe again) how much I love this quilt group. It's so fun to be able to try different blocks with completely different fabrics each month. It's also nice having small projects to work on!

As Promised....3 Months Ago

Remember when I promised a giveaway in honor of 100th post three months ago? Did you think I left the blog so I wouldn't have to come through with that promise? Don't answer that. 100 posts - giveaway to come!

I just realized that my previous post was my 100th! I guess that calls for a celebration of sorts, and what better way to celebrate than with a giveaway. That seems to be the way things go in blogland - which, by the way, I love...people are so nice, generous and thoughtful. I'm going to be getting something or things ready to go for a giveaway next week, so check back!

Oddball Blankets

Here are some pictures of some of the West Coast Oddball Baby Blankets I've contributed to recently (my sections are the top in each blanket). You can go to the blog link above to see pictures of these adorable blankets as they progress. The blankets are donated to various hospitals in the region for children who may not otherwise get such a great blanket. Some of them are for premies so they are smaller in size.

(Pinkalicious baby blanket that I finished - there are 6 sections per blanket and I did the last section, they then get a nice border added by another person)

(Banana Split is a premie blanket that I started. There haven't been anymore pictures of it posted, but I'm excited to see what it looks like now!)

(Olympic Rings is being done in all the colors of the olympic rings...makes sense, right? :) I had to redo the yellow section for another knitter and was assigned the black section, so I did that as well.)

(Easter Egg was fun! The first knitter, who used the variegated yarn, sent it along with the blanket so in my section I used a yellow that I had, the variegated and a green that I had. I figured it could use more stripes and colors because of its name.)

Forgot to post these fun blocks Izzy requested for her blocks that we turned in last weekend for our quilt group!

Kelsey's Block for May

We met for quilt group on Saturday and Kelsey gave us the fabric and instructions for her blocks due next month. Here's my block that I finished yesterday:

She has people making other color schemed blocks as well; yellow and red are the only ones I can think of. She'll also be adding handles of rickrack to the baskets. It was a fun block to make, and they're so cute! I just have to add (embroider) my initials to my block now.

The sun is actually sewn on using my machine...I wasn't too sure about the way it turned out looking like just a bunch of holes in the card, but it's not bad. Maybe it looked that way because I was using black top thread and white in the bobbin? Anyway, I thought the concept was cute, and my sister thought it was pretty cool too!
